Osun APC Rejects Short Notice for Tinubu’s Campaign Council Inauguration.

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the short notice given for the inauguration of the State Presidential Campaign Committee for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The party said it was not consulted before the announcement of the 344-member campaign council, expressing concerns over the process and the lack of prior engagement with its leadership.

The APC made its position known in a statement signed by its state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Osogbo.

The development followed an announcement by the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday that the governor would inaugurate the campaign council.

Those listed as members include former Osun State Governor, Adebisi Akande; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; the party’s 2026 governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji; and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foluke Etteh.

Others are former senators Iyiola Omisore, Jide Omoworare and Sola Adeyeye; former Osun Deputy Governor, Titilayo Ponle; Yinka Ajayi; Akintunde Adegboye; and Mumini Olabanji.

The list also reportedly includes executives of the APC, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Accord Party, as well as former lawmakers, National Assembly candidates and local government chairmen from the political parties.

However, the composition of the council has raised questions about the extent of consultations among the political parties, particularly as opposition figures were included in the list.

Lawal acknowledged the importance of Tinubu’s re-election campaign, noting that the APC had agreed to Governor Adeleke’s appointment as the state coordinator of the President’s re-election campaign.

He said the collaboration among political parties could strengthen Tinubu’s chances in the forthcoming presidential election but insisted that the process should follow the appropriate official procedures.

According to the APC chairman, the party was unaware of any planned inauguration apart from the announcement made on social media by the governor’s spokesperson.

The APC chairman said the campaign council’s inauguration required proper planning and consultation with party leaders to ensure effective coordination.

He further alleged that the manner in which the committee was constituted could create unnecessary tension between the Osun APC and Adeleke, who was appointed to coordinate the campaign in the state.

Lawal, however, maintained that the party was committed to Tinubu’s re-election and would not oppose any reasonable concessions necessary to achieve that objective.
