The Accord Party candidate and the current Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence in victory after casting his ballot in the ongoing Osun governorship election, urging voters to come out en masse and protect their votes throughout the electoral process.

Adeleke spoke shortly after voting, saying the election provides the people of Osun State with an opportunity to choose who will govern them for the next four years.

The governor urged voters to remain peaceful and law-abiding during voting, counting and collation of results.

He also encouraged voters to stay at their polling units and monitor the process in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adeleke, however, raised concerns over an alleged plan by a police officer to disrupt the electoral process in Ede.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, to immediately redeploy the officer from Osun State.

«“We also received information about our supporters being scared away in Modakeke and some areas in the state by some police officers to disenfranchise them,” Adeleke said.»

The governor further warned his supporters to be vigilant over alleged fake ballot papers that could be used at some polling units to deceive voters.

Despite the concerns, Adeleke expressed optimism that the Osun 2026 governorship election would remain peaceful, credible and reflect the wishes of the electorate.

He urged residents to exercise their franchise responsibly and ensure their votes are protected until the conclusion of the electoral process.
