A seven-year-old boy, Abdullahi Rabi’u, has been abducted and killed in the Majema neighbourhood along Ring Road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, despite his family’s willingness to pay a ransom of N2.5 million.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday evening when the child was sent on an errand to a neighbour’s residence but failed to return home.
According to his uncle, Sukairaj Danladi Me Gado, the boy had successfully delivered the message before disappearing, prompting family members to begin a search for him.
He said the family’s efforts to locate the child proved unsuccessful until Tuesday morning, when an unidentified caller contacted them, claiming responsibility for the abduction and demanding N2.5 million for his release.
Me Gado disclosed that the family had agreed to pay the ransom in a desperate attempt to secure the boy’s freedom.
However, their hopes were shattered later on Tuesday when the child’s lifeless body was discovered in a narrow alley close to the family’s residence.
The discovery reportedly threw the neighbourhood into mourning, leaving residents and family members devastated by the incident.
The bereaved uncle expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the killing, alleging that the perpetrators might be familiar with the area.
He called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, identify and arrest those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
As of the time of this report, no information was provided regarding any arrests or an official statement from the police concerning the incident.
