One person has been confirmed dead and three others injured following a building collapse in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred on Friday morning, October 23, on Akinola Street, off Ikorodu Road, prompting an emergency response and search-and-rescue operation at the scene.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the cause of the collapse had yet to be determined, while emergency responders were working to establish the number of people trapped beneath the debris.

The agency noted that workers were among those feared trapped.LASEMA said a coordinated search-and-rescue operation had commenced to locate and rescue any trapped victims.

The agency is managing the scene in collaboration with the Lagos Response Unit (LRU) paramedics, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASASA and the police.

The rescue operation is ongoing as emergency teams continue efforts to account for those who may still be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
