Shettima Mocks Obi’s 2023 Election Claim, Faults Economic Proposals.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi over his claim to have won the 2023 presidential election, describing it as a “delusion of grandeur” and questioning the evidence supporting the assertion.

Shettima spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he also faulted Obi’s economic proposals, accusing him of relying on what he described as bogus statistics and foreign comparisons that do not reflect Nigeria’s realities.

The Vice President argued that economic policies must reflect a country’s unique social, economic and political circumstances, warning against adopting foreign models without considering local conditions.

He maintained that Nigeria’s population and peculiar challenges required policies tailored to its needs.

The inauguration formally marked the activation of the ruling party’s expanded campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general election, as the APC prepares for another presidential contest.
