Women in Tyomu community, Benue State, have blocked the Makurdi-Gboko Highway to protest the abduction of 18 residents travelling to Kogi State.

The protesters, who took to the major highway, expressed anger and concern over the safety of the abducted residents and called for urgent action to secure their release.

The incident has reportedly heightened tension in the community, with residents demanding increased security measures to prevent further attacks and abductions along the route.

The women urged the relevant security authorities and government agencies to intensify efforts to locate the victims and ensure their safe return to their families.

The protest also caused disruption to vehicular movement along the Makurdi-Gboko Highway as the demonstrators called attention to the growing security concerns in the area.

Residents appealed to the authorities to address the security situation and provide adequate protection for communities and travellers.
