Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election as a triumph for democracy and the people of the state.

Adeleke spoke shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the election held on Saturday, expressing gratitude to God and the people of Osun State for their support for his administration.

The governor said his victory was an indication that the people of the state appreciated the achievements of his administration, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education and agriculture.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured victory in 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, won in 11 local government areas.

Declaring the final result earlier today, the State Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, announced Adeleke as the winner of the keenly contested poll.

The result gives Adeleke another mandate to lead Osun State, following an election in which voters across the state decided between the incumbent governor and his major challenger, Oyebamiji.

The governor’s victory is expected to usher in a new phase of governance in Osun State, with attention likely to focus on the implementation of his campaign promises and the consolidation of ongoing development projects.
