Vice-President Kashim Shettima has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, saying he has nothing to offer Nigerians beyond citing statistics.
Shettima made the remarks at an event in Abuja on Monday, where he urged members of Nigeria’s economic community to support the Federal Government’s policies and defended the removal of petrol subsidy.
The Vice-President also compared petrol prices in Nigeria with those of neighbouring countries, citing figures for Niger Republic, Benin Republic and Cameroon.
He argued that the comparison highlighted the implications of Nigeria’s previous fuel pricing arrangements.
Shettima’s comments come amid continuing political debate over petrol subsidy removal and its economic impact, with Obi and other opposition figures raising concerns about the Federal Government’s handling of the economy.
