BOUESTI VC Charges Former Corps Members to Make Meaningful Impact

The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Babatunde Omojola, has charged former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who served in the institution to make meaningful contributions to society and uphold the values of integrity, diligence and good character.

Professor Omojola gave the charge at a send-off ceremony organised in honour of the Batch C, 2025 NYSC members who recently completed their national service at the University.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Foyeke Ibimilua, the Vice-Chancellor urged the former Corps members to maintain their relationship with the institution, describing them as important stakeholders whose experiences and feedback could contribute to its development.

He encouraged them to report observed shortcomings and wrongdoing to the University Management, stressing that constructive criticism was essential for institutional growth.

Also speaking, the Registrar, Mrs Adenike Adeusi, represented by the Deputy Registrar, Council Affairs, Mrs Oluwakemi Ayodeji, commended the former Corps members for their commitment, diligence and peaceful conduct throughout their service year.

She described them as exceptional young Nigerians whose performance had justified the confidence reposed in them by the University.

The Registrar urged them to demonstrate that the value of education goes beyond academic certificates, emphasising the need to complement their qualifications with integrity, good character and an entrepreneurial mindset.

She noted that a deficit of character among citizens could undermine national development, adding that personal integrity and responsible citizenship remained essential to building a prosperous nation.

The ceremony featured the presentation of gifts to the outgoing Corps members in recognition of their contributions and services to the University.
