The Federal High Court has reportedly sacked the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Nafiu Bala Gombe as the party’s only recognised National Executive Committee member.
The ruling followed a suit instituted by Gombe, who challenged the process through which the Senator David Mark-led leadership assumed control of the party.
Gombe argued that following the resignation of the former National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, he was constitutionally qualified to take over the party’s leadership.
He subsequently approached the court, seeking, among other reliefs, the nullification of all actions taken on behalf of the ADC by the Mark-led leadership.
The actions challenged included the party’s presidential primary election, which produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The court’s decision is expected to have significant implications for the ADC’s leadership structure and its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
