A 55-year-old driver has escaped unhurt after a moving train collided with his Honda car at the PWD railway line in Lagos.
The vehicle, with registration number EKY 902 JT, was badly damaged in the collision involving a train travelling towards Agege.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and security personnel rescued the driver and cleared the wreckage from the railway track.
LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying no casualty was recorded.
He added that the damaged vehicle was handed over to security personnel for further investigation.
Meanwhile, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the agency’s operatives and security personnel for their swift response.
He urged motorists to exercise caution at railway crossings and avoid crossing tracks when a train is approaching or in motion.
Despite the clearance of the track, traffic congestion persisted around the PWD axis, disrupting vehicular movement.
