Ekiti Builds Model Veterinary Hospital to Boost Animal Healthcare

The Ekiti State Government is constructing a Model Veterinary Hospital in Ado-Ekiti to improve animal healthcare, strengthen livestock production and enhance access to modern veterinary services across the state.

The project, supported by the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) initiative in collaboration with the World Bank, is expected to provide essential veterinary services, including disease diagnosis, treatment, surgery and laboratory investigations.

When fully operational, the facility will help prevent and control animal diseases, improve livestock productivity and provide better healthcare services for livestock farmers and pet owners in Ekiti State.

The hospital is also expected to strengthen veterinary service delivery and promote animal welfare through improved access to modern diagnostic and treatment facilities.

The initiative forms part of efforts to modernise Ekiti State’s livestock sector, with the potential to improve food security, support farmers’ livelihoods and contribute to the state’s economic development.

The establishment of the Model Veterinary Hospital is expected to enhance the quality of animal healthcare while providing a more effective response to veterinary challenges affecting livestock production across the state.
