The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that a 37-year-old Nigerian woman who went missing after arriving in Doha, Qatar, has been found safe and reunited with her family.

The confirmation was given on Sunday by the NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, who said the woman had been cleared by Qatari authorities after undergoing necessary checks.

Achimugu explained that the woman was unable to communicate with her family because her mobile phone and international passport were temporarily held by Qatari Customs while officials clarified certain issues.

In a post on his X account, he said the woman had since been released and reunited with her belongings.“I have spoken with the lady. She is safe.

Her mobile phone and international passport were held by Customs who were trying to clarify some issues. She was unable to reach anyone while the process was ongoing.“However, she has been cleared and released, and has possession of her properties.

She has contacted her family, too,” Achimugu said.The NCAA spokesman also disclosed that the woman was taken to a hospital after falling ill, confirming an earlier statement by her brother, Jonathan Jibo, that she had been found receiving medical attention.According to Achimugu, the intervention of Qatari Customs and other authorities was not connected to any wrongdoing by the Nigerian woman.

“The important thing is that she was cleared of any wrongdoing,” he said.Achimugu commended a Nigerian resident in Qatar, Yusuf Adesoga, for assisting in efforts to locate the woman.

He said Adesoga visited several security agencies in Doha and collaborated with authorities until the woman was eventually found.He also praised the woman’s brother for raising the alarm after she became unreachable shortly after arriving in Qatar.

The woman had travelled from Lagos to Doha aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408 and was reported missing after her family lost contact with her.Earlier reports indicated that CCTV footage confirmed she arrived safely at the Doha airport, collected her luggage and exited the terminal.

Her brother had said she was visiting Qatar for the first time and had no friends in the country. Her accommodation had reportedly been arranged and paid for before her journey, while a designated person was waiting to pick her up at the airport.

The woman, who reportedly worked at the Lagos airport for nearly 12 years, was expected to begin a new job in Doha weeks after her arrival.Her disappearance had triggered widespread concern among Nigerians before authorities confirmed on Sunday that she had been found safe.
