The Convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda (OPARHA), Dr Wole Oluyede, has pledged to mobilise members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State for the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Oluyede made the commitment at a rally organised by his group at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, where he disclosed that he had met with President Tinubu over the development of Ekiti State.
According to him, the President assured him that more developmental projects would be attracted to the state if he is re-elected in 2027.
The PDP governorship candidate in the June 20, 2026 election in Ekiti also commended PDP members in the state who, he said, had agreed to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Oluyede said the supporters were prepared to embark on a house-to-house campaign across the state to mobilise votes for the President.
He also commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as his commitment to peace during the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
Oluyede, however, appealed to the governor to support the agitation for Ekiti South Senatorial District to produce the next governor of the state after his tenure.
Speaking at the event, a former Deputy Chairman of the PDP in the South-West, Makanjuola Ogundipe, said the party members supporting the initiative had decided to work with Governor Oyebanji to ensure that President Tinubu records a strong victory in the 2027 election.
Also, a PDP leader in Ekiti State, Johnson Adekunle, appealed to Governor Oyebanji to extend his administration’s support to Oluyede’s followers.
Responding, Governor Oyebanji commended Oluyede for openly declaring his support for President Tinubu, despite the President contesting the 2027 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyebanji said Ekiti State had benefited from the Federal Government under Tinubu since the President assumed office in 2023.He argued that Tinubu’s re-election would, among other things, help consolidate the Federal Government’s interventions and development initiatives in the state.
The governor urged Ekiti residents to turn out in large numbers during the 2027 election, expressing the ambition of securing 900,000 votes for President Tinubu in the state.
Oyebanji also promised to continue extending what he described as a hand of fellowship to members of the PDP and other political groups in the state.
He further urged APC members to allow PDP supporters to freely campaign for President Tinubu, saying members of both parties could organise joint campaign rallies ahead of the 2027 election.
