Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has urged officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use the front camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) whenever the device’s other camera is not functioning.

Davido made the appeal in a post on his official X handle on Saturday as voting continued in the Osun State governorship election.

«“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!” he wrote.»

The singer’s comment followed reports of technical challenges involving BVAS devices at some polling units during the election.

The BVAS is deployed by INEC for voter accreditation, including fingerprint and facial authentication, as part of measures aimed at ensuring the credibility of the electoral process.

Davido has recently used his social media platform to draw attention to developments surrounding the Osun governorship election, urging local and international stakeholders to closely monitor the conduct of the poll.

The election has attracted significant attention, with voters turning out across the state to cast their ballots for the next governor of Osun.

There have been concerns about malfunctioning of the Bvas machines deployed for the conduct of the election in some polling units, as devices are not working as expected.

It was gathered that this has slowed down the electoral process in some polling units where there are large numbers of voters.

INEC officials are expected to address technical challenges affecting accreditation and ensure that eligible voters are able to exercise their franchise in accordance with electoral guidelines.
