President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve a bill seeking to repeal the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) Act and establish a new institution, the National School of Government.
The proposed legislation is aimed at establishing a dedicated institution for leadership development, governance training and capacity building for public officials.
If passed into law, the bill would provide a new legal framework for training and developing public sector leaders, with the goal of strengthening public administration and improving service delivery across the country.
The request forms part of efforts to build institutional capacity and equip public officials with the knowledge and leadership skills required to meet the demands of modern governance.
The bill will be considered by the National Assembly as part of the legislative process.
