The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, wanted over alleged financial crimes.

The anti-graft agency announced Maina’s wanted status in a statement posted on its verified X handle on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale.

Maina, who was previously at the centre of a multi-billion-naira pension fraud case, has faced several legal battles arising from allegations of financial misconduct.

The former PRTT chairman was convicted by the Federal High Court in Abuja in November 2021 over money laundering offences involving more than N2 billion.

He had earlier been arraigned by the EFCC in October 2019 on a 12-count charge bordering on money laundering, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Following his conviction, Maina was imprisoned but was later released from the Kuje Correctional Centre after serving his sentence.

The latest declaration by the EFCC places Maina on the commission’s wanted list as the agency continues its efforts to locate him and enforce its legal proceedings.
