Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has defended her support for President Bola Tinubu, saying her political stance is responsible for the criticism she receives on social media.
The actress stated this during an appearance on comedian Isbae U’s podcast, Curiosity Made Me Ask, where she maintained that she remained committed to supporting the President despite negative reactions from some Nigerians.
Badmus said she understood that people had different political preferences and insisted that everyone had the democratic right to support any candidate of their choice.
“The only reason they come at me is just that I support the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And whether you like it or not, on that mandate, me, Eniola Badmus, I am still standing,” she said.
The actress added that she did not condemn people for supporting politicians other than Tinubu, stressing that democracy allowed citizens to make their own political choices.“Everybody has the right to do whatever they want.
It’s called democracy. Follow whoever you want to follow; I don’t criticise anyone for following whoever,” she added.
Badmus was one of the prominent entertainers who publicly supported Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
She has continued to express her loyalty to the President despite the backlash her political position has generated online.
