Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her mother, Rita Daniels, Senator Ned Nwoko and some Nollywood colleagues over comments he made during the actress’ marital crisis in 2025.
Rollas issued the apology in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, saying he had reflected on how he handled the controversy and regretted the timing and platform he used to express his views.
The former AGN president had, in November 2025, publicly commented on the marital crisis involving Regina and Nwoko, saying the actress “needs help” and calling out some senior actors who he claimed had witnessed incidents involving her.
He also criticised Rita Daniels over her involvement in the AGN leadership contest and made comments concerning Nwoko, who was then the guild’s Board of Patrons chairman.
However, Rollas said he now regretted making the comments while the Daniels family was experiencing a difficult period.“Sometimes, with the passage of time, we look back at our actions and realise that being right about an issue does not necessarily mean we handled it the right way,” he said.
He said a recent encounter with Rita Daniels, during which some individuals attempted to reconcile them, gave him another opportunity to reflect on the incident.
Rollas subsequently apologised to Rita Daniels and her family, Nwoko and his family, Regina, the AGN Board of Trustees and some Nollywood colleagues, including Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility and Nazareth Jesse.“I am sorry,” he said.
The former guild president stressed that he was not making the apology with the expectation that it must be accepted, noting that the decision to forgive him rested with those he may have offended.
Rollas, however, noted that his position on some of the issues he raised had not necessarily changed, but accepted responsibility for his actions and the timing of his comment.
He said he had chosen to move forward with “peace, reconciliation, dignity and respect.”According to him, leadership requires not only the courage to speak but also the humility to recognise when a matter could have been handled differently.
