A capacity-building and empowerment workshop for palace queens in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II is scheduled to hold on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Ijurin-Ekiti, to promote traditional palace ethics, protocols and cultural preservation.
The programme is facilitated by Hon. Biodun Omoleye in collaboration with the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA).
The workshop, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Palace Hall, Ijurin-Ekiti, is designed to equip wives of traditional rulers, popularly known as Olori, with the knowledge and skills needed to uphold the dignity, values and cultural heritage of their respective royal households.
Participants are expected to gain insights into palace administration, traditional etiquette, royal conduct, palace protocols and their responsibilities within the traditional institution.
The lead facilitator and keynote speaker is Princess Jolaade Onipede, a former Regent of Ilasa-Ekiti, former Commissioner in Ekiti State and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo.
With her experience in traditional institutions, public administration and diplomacy, Princess Onipede is expected to share practical knowledge on maintaining decorum, promoting cultural values, fostering peace and strengthening the role of traditional institutions in community development.
The initiative also seeks to empower palace queens as key stakeholders in preserving cultural heritage, promoting peace and unity, and fostering cordial relationships between traditional rulers and their communities.
Organisers say the collaboration between Omoleye and BORBDA is expected to contribute to the enlightenment of palace queens in the constituency while encouraging ethical conduct, moral uprightness and responsible leadership within the traditional system.
The event is expected to attract palace queens, traditional leaders and other stakeholders committed to strengthening traditional institutions in Ekiti State.
