PETROAN Seeks 30% Allocation of Discounted Petrol for Members.

The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has urged the Federal Government to allocate 30 per cent of the discounted petrol supply to its members to improve distribution and ease transportation costs across the country.

The association said its extensive network of retail outlets across local government areas, towns, villages and underserved communities would help ensure that the benefits of the intervention reach more Nigerians.

PETROAN National President, Dr Billy Gillis-Harry, made the request in a statement issued on Friday by the association’s Special Adviser on Media, Chris Odia, and National Public Relations Officer, Dr Joseph Obele.

The association commended the Federal Government for recognising the importance of affordable transportation to Nigeria’s economy through its 30-day petrol discount scheme.

The initiative, announced by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, covers petrol supplied by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), with public transport operators identified as priority beneficiaries.

The association said its grassroots presence and direct relationship with petroleum consumers positioned its members to extend the intervention beyond major cities and commercial centres.

Beyond petrol distribution, PETROAN also offered to support the Federal Government’s compressed natural gas (CNG) initiative by leveraging its existing retail network to improve access to alternative fuel.

PETROAN said the proposal aligned with the Federal Government’s broader energy transition and economic objectives, while potentially expanding access to alternative energy solutions nationwide.
